Jay & a Americans were the pop music group popular in the 1960s. Their initial lineup consisted of Howard Kane (né Kirschenbaum), John (J.T.) Traynor, Kenny Vance (né Rosenberg), & Sandy Yagoda.

It were found when performing inside student venues at New York University in the late 1950s. It auditioned for Lieber and Stoller, who gave a class action its title.
